Laboratory Staff
At Frontier, our laboratory staff members are professionals committed to patient care. We understand that every sample with which we work represents a person dealing with cancer or hematological concerns. That’s why we not only focus on obtaining and processing your laboratory results with the highest levels of accuracy and expediency, but also with compassion.
Phlebotomist: Ali Sandoval
Our phlebotomist not only takes your blood, but also provides you with information and/or materials to aid in the proper collection of other sample types. You will find our phlebotomy team to be experienced, friendly and – above all else – focused on you and your care.
Laboratory Administrators: Dr. Martin K. Lucas and Mary Beery, CLS
The Frontier laboratory is supervised by two administrators: Laboratory Director Martin K. Lucas, MD and Mary Beery, CLS. Under their direction, Frontier has twice earned the prestigious Laboratory Excellence Award from COLA (formerly known as Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation), the agency responsible for the accreditation of specialized medical laboratories.
Medical Technologists: Karla Forster, Vicki Hodson, Janis Restad, Pat Tuomi and Shauna Leeds
Also known as Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS), our medical technologists conduct complex testing and analyze your laboratory results. Each has earned a bachelor’s degree and received one to two years of additional training at an accredited facility. Each of our staff members have at least 10 years of experience in their respective discipline, with three having more than 30 years of experience.
Laboratory Assistant: Susan Hinkins
The laboratory team would not be complete without a laboratory assistant to ensure that the entire process, from sample collection to final report, moves smoothly. Susan, who has been with Frontier for over 3 years, provides essential information to phlebotomists, gathers and prepares samples for analysis and delivers those samples to the appropriate testing areas.
