It has been estimated that between 5 and 10 percent of cancers are genetic; in other words, they are inherited from family members. Frontier provides genetic testing and counseling to help individuals review their family histories, identify whether a cancer risk exists and provide additional testing, counseling or other services. We may make certain recommendations; for instance, those with a high likelihood of cancer risk may be encouraged to have more frequent screenings than those who have no familial history of the disease.
